Shallow Geothermal Energy: Skills Development Across the EU is a European Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) created within the GEOBOOST project to promote knowledge and professional skills in shallow geothermal energy and geothermal heat pump (GHP) systems. The course delivers high-quality, harmonized training that supports the deployment of sustainable heating and cooling technologies across Europe.

Designed for drilling professionals, installers, system designers, energy consultants, planners, public authorities, decision-makers and policy-makers, the programme also welcomes anyone interested in renewable energy solutions and the future of low-carbon heating and cooling. Through a structured learning pathway, participants gain a comprehensive understanding of shallow geothermal technologies, from fundamental concepts to practical applications. The training combines expert-led video lessons, technical resources, case studies and interactive activities to help learners develop industry-relevant competencies.
