This program equips you with the knowledge and skills an AWS Developer needs to know in developing, optimizing, packaging, and deploying applications, using CI/CD workflows, and identifying and resolving application issues, and helps you prepare for the AWS Certified Developer - Associate certification exam.
This learning plan teaches developers and anyone performing application development functions how to build, deploy, and operate cloud-native applications on AWS. Organized across six phases, Starting with Phase 0: Foundation, you learn core concepts and set up your development environment, then Phase 1: Build an API with persistent data storage and error handling.
In Phase 2: Add Complexity, you implement file storage, caching, asynchronous messaging, and real-time streaming patterns.
Phase 3: Expand Your Toolkit introduces alternative compute options including containers and virtual machines, while Phase 4: Security covers authentication, authorization, and data protection.
You then progress through Phase 5: Infrastructure and Deployment to automate provisioning and CI/CD pipelines, and conclude with
Phase 6: Operations to implement monitoring, observability, and performance optimization. The learning plan also covers specific AWS features, tools, and best practices related to these functions.
Applied Learning Project
These hands-on labs provide practical experience building, scaling, and securing applications on AWS. Learners deploy a serverless API with the AWS Serverless Application Model (AWS SAM) and build an event-driven architecture where Amazon S3 uploads trigger Amazon SNS notifications and Amazon SQS queues invoke AWS Lambda functions. Learners ingest, transform, and store streaming data with Amazon Data Firehose and cache data with an Amazon ElastiCache Redis node. Learners also run containerized applications on AWS Fargate with Amazon ECS, configuring load balancing and auto scaling, then automate delivery with a CI/CD pipeline that builds, tests, and deploys to AWS Fargate. Finally, learners store and rotate credentials with AWS Secrets Manager to strengthen application security.
