I have thoroughly enjoyed this course. It has truly enriched my knowledge in the space of intellectual disability.

Before taking the course I was at my wit's end! I didn't know how to teach my son ,I didn't understand how his brain worked. He was my main focus & I forgot about me, I now know the importance of taking care of myself as his primary caregiver . After taking the course I'm even more determined to advocate for children with severe to profound intellectual disability especially in our communities & schools Thank you so much for the easy way to make a changes in our lives. Situations that we thought we impossible are now possible ,we are now hopeful and looking forward to see our son become the best version of himself !

I loved this course; it really helped me to better understand and helped those involved in the circles of care and education in the severe to profound intellectual disability population. It is important to educated our general public that this vulnerable population can also learned and expressed their feelings and it should be our duty to helped them reach their full potential and acceptance in our society.

The course included the interaction with the caregivers of children with severe to profound intellectual disability which added a personal touch to the course. The structure of the course was also very nicely planned. The last week which focused on importance of self care for the caregivers was also great!

I thoroughly enjoyed this course. It was well planned and conducted and has opened my mind to a new world of care. Lastly, it has tied in well with the sociology and psychology courses that I've completed and am completing at UCT.

At first I was thinking only people who work or have children with severe to profound intellectual disability are the one who must learn about the children not everyone but after the course I realize that everyone must learn about it. In our community most of people think having a child like that is a taboo maybe you did something then is your punishment but they don't understand that the children with severe to profound intellectual disability are the same with others children only they need special care and time and the is no need to lock the kids in the house, that child needs to go to school and learn like everyone.
