About the Course

To really understand what is special about Bitcoin, we need to understand how it works at a technical level. We’ll address the important questions about Bitcoin, such as: How does Bitcoin work? What makes Bitcoin different? How secure are your Bitcoins? How anonymous are Bitcoin users? What determines the price of Bitcoins? Can cryptocurrencies be regulated? What might the future hold? After this course, you’ll know everything you need to be able to separate fact from fiction when reading claims about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. You’ll have the conceptual foundations you need to engineer secure software that interacts with the Bitcoin network. And you’ll be able to integrate ideas from Bitcoin in your own projects. Course Lecturers: Arvind Narayanan, Princeton University All the features of this course are available for free. It does not offer a certificate upon completion....

Very good course - I finally fully understand how bitcoins work! It would be nice to see this course updated with the recent developments in cryptocurrencies (smart contracts, Ethereum etc.)

Gives a very detailed introduction about the precursors and history of bitcoin. The essential parts include cryptography, consensus protocal, technical details of transactions and block chains. The only pity is that this course was carried out in 2015 or 2016 which is a little behind what's fast developing in the block chain world. Nevertheless, the course gives us fundamental knowledge about cryptocurrencies, which can be a very good start for those who want to dig deep into this future industry.

The course is a good introduction to cryptocurrency technologies. Most of its material is still relevant today, despite the fact that it was recorded in 2014. I gave only 4 stars because of the auto-grader. Testing the code on a local computer is tedious with few resources available for guidance. There was also a bug in the grader at Assignment 2, which hasn't been fixed for some time.

This very knowledgeable and informative course, explained with simple examples and language, will give you good understand on Bitcoin and Cryptography.

But I would request to creator if you don’t teach Java Programming in this course, so on what basis to take programming assessments. I believe Programming Assessment should be removed from course ASAP.

Four stars because assignments can be only be done in Java. Although assignments aren't mandatory still I would like to do them in Python.

It would have been nice to get a little certificate of completion but the course its self, information and delivery is well done.

A lot more complicated than it should be. Needs more real world application rather than theory/
