The course is great. It gives a great understanding about the solar energy and its installation process. I recommended it to all those who are interested in Renewable Energy.

Solar Energy System Design builds upon the introduction to PV systems from Solar Energy Basics course, which included basic system components and functions, as well as some basic system sizing using simplifying assumptions. You should at this point have a basic understanding of electrical power and energy, be able to calculate the energy needs of a site as well as energy production potential for a PV system at a given location under optimal conditions. Much of this course will focus on incorporating on the ground conditions into energy production considerations, and how to account for these conditions in system design and equipment selection. By the end of this course you should be able to incorporate losses in irradiance due to array setups with less than optimal positioning and/or shading, and account for variations in module output due to temperature variations in your system design.

Teacher is very elaborative and explained each concept so nicely. Thankfully now i can design solar systems for net metering. Thanks Professor Neal Abrams and Coursera

over all a very good course for solar design and PV array sizing .. Need a little more time for the Equipment sizing and selction section and also the state wise permits and NOC.

Loved this course. With a very practical perspective, it does not go deep into PV theory but focusses more on what you should know to design your own PV System. Overall I am very satisfied!

this is a course to where you design and spec a PV system, it is well presented and i have learnt many new things . a big thanks to prof Neal Abrams

Just overwhelmed by the learning and outcome i obtained from the course. The course provides detailed study and understanding associated with respective stream.

Among last few courses I have done here, This is most interesting & full of learnings for Solar Design Engineers.

Course is designed correctly to give overall idea about solar PV system design. Instructor is delivering it with clarity. THANK YOU

Great instructor and valuable knowledge, I highly recommend this course for any one needs to be a solar systems design engineer.

Great practical course for anyone wanting to understand how to design a PV system. Professor Neal Abrams has done a great job in hosting this course. I found the entire course very enjoyable.

- Very nicely explained fundamentals for Solar System Design with all aspects covered. - All topics covered with relevant examples and quiz, this has made learning very easy and interactive.

I would like to thank ibrahim for this great course that taught me by asking questions that made me feel like I was in my school years.

Apperently, the answer key for some questions are wrong. So you spend a lot time with the calculations because you think you are doing something wrong until you find out in the discussion area that everyone is facing the same problem. Therefore it is impossible to get a certificate from this. Very annoying and a total waste of time.
I would say the videos are good though but I am not sure anymore. The lecturer or whoever is responsible, didnt even bother themselves to check the simplest thing in the course, before start selling it to people. After finding this out, I unfortunatelly doubt there might be some wrong informations in the course as well.
Really good course for the design of ongrid PV systems: a lot of practical advice on how to dimension this kind of PV systems. What could be added (but maybe this also for another course): how to design grid independent systems with battery storage and what are (ranges for) prices, on what do they depend etc.
The course is very focused and use of simple language and examples makes the concept pretty clear. Excellent content and you will end up with good knowledge on Solar Energy System.
In this Coursera course you have not mention battery selection, mppt tech. So this knowledge is not enough
I really enjoyed the training, it was tasking and challenging but well equipped. I am glad that I was able to run the training.
Thanks to Dr. Nel Abrams and the entire cousera.

Dead links and calculations which are in error with no support.

I needed this course for my academic purposes, it is really well designed course and will take you to the depth of solar system design. If you are electrical engineer and need to understand the basics of solar system design you should definitely go for it.
This course was very helpful to me in understanding how to design a solar system based on different environmental condition. I applaud SUNY for coming up with such an effective course regarding solar energy system design.

Good content. The quiz will drive you crazy because some answers to the quizzes are wrong (check the discussion forum). Overall I learnt a lot, thank you!
Excellent course for the busy professional to enhance their knowledge and skills in PV Designing from the reputed institute.
This course is really great. I learned a lot and boost my confidence by adding new sets of skills.
Good introduction in system sizing and calculation of losses
The concept with video, some reading, quiz and capstone is good. Easy to learn quit much in short time. Neal Abrams is presenting in a good and easy understandable way.
Improvement 1.
Have a defind path or selection of course included for a certain competence area, like solar power with connection to battery solution.
Improvement 2.
In case there is challenges or open question with something, a quiz question or question about something in the course material, there is no way to have support. Discussion forum exist, yes, but there in same questons asked many time over several years, without answers. Would be great to have possibility to have support from couse staff, based on mail, chat, teams meeting open for questions.
question were very difficult to answer in any format other than exactly what was specified. ex to the nearest whole wat meant the entire formula needed to use rounded numbers and not just the final product. Which is obviously unclear and confusing,.
No support, no answered question. The course has not been updated for a long time. The data from the PV Watt calculator has been changed in the meantime. Very little or no practical information on surge protection design and conductor selection.
