The speaker is great and clear with all the material 5/5. However, the material and viewing it was 3/5 at best.
Most introductory or beginner level cybersecurity courses are not truly beginner level. Most of them assume some level of technical competence and expect that cybersecurity is not your first technical job role. However, as I've successfully mentored people coming from fields such as nursing, aviation (an airline pilot!), and real estate, I've learned that these people are underserved as far a true introduction. This Learning Path is an answer to that gap.

I did the free course and found it to be informative and easy to understand as a beeginner trying to get a career in tech with no experince
AM
Loved the hands on with Wireshark and AWS! Also, he provides real world situations which makes it more grounded to reality, rather than just a course.
VG
I liked the contents in this course and questions under quiz. thanks to coursera team for putting this lovely foundation course. thanks again.
DC
Easy learning, easy understandable lectures, i am grateful and thankful to be part of Coursera studies looking forward to advance my career skills easy and simple

Good course for beginners, and even for those who are already in IT. Course covers basics of data-transmission, social engineering and also introduces students to AWS.

This helped me a lot to begin my journey in cybersecurity. I started with zero knowledge in how things work and now I can impress my friends and family with things they did not know anything about.

It's a mind-blowing course and I look forward to taking all Keatron's courses here on Coursera. That's how fired up I am! I love the hands-on practicals because I learn best with practicals. Thank you for the course, Sir.
I honestly knew nothing about computers, but I have a flare for cybersecurity. This course provided the very basics for, now i have more confidence attacking more challenging courses.
This course gave me a clear understanding and a very good foundation to cyber security! Also, Keatron is the best tutor!
For some reason I could not find some of the answers textually given from some questions, like the e.g how many files does the average US employee have access to? what videos mentions that? and other few.
A few lessons in he starts using/referencing infosec skills - which requires a membership costing hundreds of dollars a year. This is on top of the Coursera costs..... Had I known - I would have not started either. (And "no" the 7-day free trial - after giving them you CC info - isn't acceptable.
Week one videos are not correct according to the title. Where cyber security should be explained videos of week 4 about how to work with AWS are shown making the week 1 quiz irrelevant to the content. Regardless the course is very informative and I explanatory. Learned a lot from it and would want to learn more. Thanks to the instructor for the course.
The introduction to security fundamentals is a course that covers the basic concepts and principles of cybersecurity. It explains the different types of security risks, such as confidentiality, integrity, availability, and accountability, and how to protect information, networks, and systems from unauthorized access, modification, or destruction. The course also provides practical examples and tutorials on how to use encryption, authentication, access control, and other security tools and techniques. The course is suitable for beginners who want to learn the fundamentals of cybersecurity and how to apply them in real-world scenarios. The course is well-structured, engaging, and informative. It is a good starting point for anyone who wants to pursue a career in cybersecurity or enhance their security awareness and skills.
Thank you for this course❤️.
I was totally clueless about cybersecurity. But I strongly believe that this is the skill to boost my legal career. I must say I am forced to leave a review because the K. Evans was very specific with the concepts and the lessons were short and interesting. if the videos were merged together into one long clip, I probably would not have got much. The short clips did the trick. And I also loved how he related the industry demands for this skill. As a lawyer-in-training for practice, this skill will help me save tons of dollars for my firm, shorten the length of forensic investigations and also limit how much data my firm has to expose ro an outside forensic investigator in the prosecution of a case. This is just the beginning but I am determined to take my time, to build a solid foundation as he suggested. Highly recommended!
This is a more than decent intro into the world of cybersecurity. However, one of the main reasons you should take this course is because of Keatron's educational skills. He is an educator pur sang. He knows what he is talking about and presents it in a light and easily understandable way. But the main point you take away from this course is that the only way to be really successful in this field (or any field for that matter) is by slowly and steadily building up your knowledge and skills; no shortcuts. You have to put in the work. Finally, I want to nominate Mr. Evans's divine MS paint skills for some kind of special award. They are what really lift this course up and put it on to another otherworldly level! #oscarworthy. Thank you Mr. Evans. ;-)
It was very informative and it definitely kept me engaged.
Special thanks to the instructor Mr. Evans for not making this course boring!
This course was really a great course, I was able to learn many things Thank you for organizing such a course
This course is very helpful for me, Thanks for providing me this course.
superb explanation
AWS site has been updated and is different from the videos. Overall, Keaton is a great lecturer!
At the time when I took this course, the videos for week 2 and the videos for week 4 were the same.
Very practical course, but entry level.
The "Cybersecurity Fundamentals" part (week 2) contains the videos from "Cloud Computing Fundamentals" part (week 4)

As a newcomer to the I.T. industry, in my opinion, this course was definitely student-centered. The instructor talked in basic relatable terms which made learning so much easier. Cybersecurity terms, abbreviations, phrases, etc. were clearly defined and their function was explained in a simplified fashion. He also used a Paint program to provide infographics showing relationship between processes and virtual structures, for example. In my opinion, that was a great approach and more effective than showing a screen shot. There was also a guided project where we built a VPC (Virtual Personal Cloud) in AWS (Amazon Web Service). I would highly recommend this instructor for this course. I hope this information is helpful feedback for anyone looking to take this course. Thanks.
This course was very helpful and the instructor does a great job with breaking down the fundamentals to make it easy to understand. I currently work in the IT fields as a Senior Service Desk Analyst and looking too transition into a Cybersecurity role. I think this was a great introduction at a high level overview with focus on some important core principles. Looking forward to learning more and I highly recommend this course!
I am so happy to complete this course as it has taught me a lot of knowledge about cyber security, also this course has built interest in me to further dive into the cyber security field. once again I am so thankful to the wonderful platform of Coursera and infosec for increasing my knowledge of information technology and helping me to learn how things actually work.
The guy is great. Touched on some topics that require a more "human" way of explaining.
My only reservation is that a lot of the interfaces used in the learning are constantly changing, and can be hard to follow if you are not already ahead of the curve, given that this is a beginner course.
Thanks for the great work Keaton.
