Good nutrition decisions start with understanding the science behind what we eat.
In this Specialization, you’ll build a foundation in nutrition science and learn how evidence-based dietary guidance can inform everyday choices. You’ll explore how nutrients provide energy and support the body, what makes a healthy diet, and how digestion makes nutrients available for use.
As you progress, you’ll examine carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, minerals, water, and dietary supplements while connecting nutrition science with health and food choices.
Through practical activities, you’ll also strengthen your ability to evaluate nutrition information and apply what you learn to real-world decisions.
Applied Learning Project
Throughout the Specialization, you’ll put nutrition science into practice through diet analysis, interactive activities, and applied decision-making. You’ll consider nutrition tools to examine dietary patterns, interpret food and nutrient information, evaluate the credibility of nutrition claims, and apply dietary guidance to everyday food choices.
You’ll also work with topics such as food labels, nutrient intake, diabetes and cardiovascular health, plant-based diets, hydration, and dietary supplements to connect scientific concepts with practical nutrition decisions.
