Leadership modules strengthen communication, self-assessment, advocacy, executive presence, and change leadership.
This Specialization is designed for learners who want a broader understanding of how healthcare organizations operate and make decisions. A professional or academic healthcare background is recommended.
Applied Learning Project
Across the Specialization, you’ll apply concepts through case studies, calculations, assessments, and an immersive extended-reality leadership simulation. In healthcare management activities, you’ll examine organizational structures, quality improvement, performance measurement, human resources, electronic health records, privacy, facilities planning, fundraising, partnerships, marketing, and finance. In finance work, you’ll analyze pricing and bargaining, calculate present and future values, use net present value and internal rate of return, estimate pharmaceutical R&D costs, and value mergers and acquisitions with discounted cash flow methods. In the leadership simulation, you’ll make decisions to guide a team of mountain climbers toward a summit, then reflect on communication, teamwork, leadership style, and outcomes. You’ll also apply policy, advocacy, ethics, and spheres-of-influence frameworks to healthcare change scenarios.
