This specialization guides learners through the full lifecycle of a successful UAS survey: planning missions (logistics, permissions, area of interest, flight paths), executing safe flights (regulations, ground crew roles, and lessons from real accidents), and processing collected data. Learners gain hands-on experience using Structure from Motion (SfM) software to transform optical imagery into orthomosaics and digital elevation models (DEMs), skills widely applied across industrial, commercial, and research disciplines.
Applied Learning Project
Learners work through an authentic UAS survey workflow by planning a mission for a defined area of interest, applying flight safety and operational protocols, and then processing a sample optical dataset using Structure from Motion (SfM) software to construct their own orthomosaic and digital elevation model (DEM) products.
