In diesem Kurs gibt es 4 Module
Operations Research (OR) is a field in which people use mathematical and engineering methods to study optimization problems in Business and Management, Economics, Computer Science, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, etc.
The series of courses consists of four parts, we focus on deterministic optimization techniques, which is a major part of the field of OR.
As the fourth part of the series, we invite students to do a capstone project by utilizing everything she/he learned in the first three parts to conduct an OR study. We will give examples about good and bad OR studies and talk more about the what and why of OR studies.
In this week, we introduce the contents and objectives of this course. We outline the typical structure of apply OR techniques in solving real-world optimization problems. We also briefly go through two projects done by former students in National Taiwan University as examples.

In this week, we give the first example of OR project done by former students in the department of Information Management, National Taiwan University. This gives students a chance to know our expectations on the final project of this course. Moreover, we use this example to demonstrate a very typical strategy of solving real-world problems, i.e., hierarchical optimization.

We firmly believe that open access to learning is a powerful socioeconomic equalizer. NTU is especially delighted to join other world-class universities on Coursera and to offer quality university courses to the Chinese-speaking population. We hope to transform the rich rewards of learning from a limited commodity to an experience available to all.
When will I have access to the lectures and assignments?
To access the course materials, assignments and to earn a Certificate, you will need to purchase the Certificate experience when you enroll in a course. You can try a Free Trial instead, or apply for Financial Aid. The course may offer 'Full Course, No Certificate' instead. This option lets you see all course materials, submit required assessments, and get a final grade. This also means that you will not be able to purchase a Certificate experience.
What will I get if I subscribe to this Specialization?
When you enroll in the course, you get access to all of the courses in the Specialization, and you earn a certificate when you complete the work. Your electronic Certificate will be added to your Accomplishments page - from there, you can print your Certificate or add it to your LinkedIn profile.
Is financial aid available?
Yes. In select learning programs, you can apply for financial aid or a scholarship if you can’t afford the enrollment fee. If fin aid or scholarship is available for your learning program selection, you’ll find a link to apply on the description page.
