About the Course

Will ArtificiaI Intelligence soon be surpassing humans? This is rapidly becoming one of the central questions of our time -- but it is the wrong question. In this course, we will provide a non-technical look at where AI has come from, and where it is going. We will see that there is no reason to expect that AI will be surpassing humans. Instead, what we are learning to create with AI is the illusion of intelligence. AI has actually been discussed for centuries, in fields like philosophy, linguistics and cognitive science. We will show that these perspectives help to shed light on current developments in AI, including impressive recent systems like GPT-3....

The content is engaging and interesting and I'm enjoying it so far. However there are some spelling grammar mistakes throughout. The worst part about this course is that all the peer assignments are clearly written by AI. Your expected to "grade" these responses and can't complete the course until yours are "graded" but considering that the majority of people taking this course are cheating their way through it, it seems pointless. Don't pay for this, and don't expect any constructive feedback on your work.

The course is very good in the sense that it starts from very basics from harvey ,descartes and Alan Turing in the 1st week and than go into more depth. The thing that i liked the most is flyyn effect how intelligence is not static and how it will be difficult to evaluate the IQ without the tools will be very difficult in the future.By tools i mean the digital instruments we use in day to day life.Overall i'm very much happy with the lecture and the contents of the course.

I’ve really enjoyed this course. I find it interesting and very well structured. My favorite part was when the instructor compared the famous AI’s of science fiction to the ones we have now. The visual aids were very well made and supplemented the content well.

Very interesting course that makes a step aside the hype of AI so as to clearly see what it is and what it is not.

Excellent platform for learning and engaging in critical thought, specifically, regarding the philosophical ideas as well as computational theories that constitute the rapid development of modern AI.

I really enjoyed this course. The lectures were well paced, good sized videos, clearly recorded/spoken and good supporting materials. For anyone working in AI or wanting to learn more about AI just because, it's always worthwhile understanding the fundamentals - what intelligence is, what language is, what is means to think. If nothing else, it helps to cut through the hype and hysteria in the current discussion about the future of AI.

Excellent course. It provided not only a general idea of the current state of IA but also provided some insightful thoughts on the effects of AI in our world. I recommend it.

The course is interesting from a philosophical perspective. It is not intended for technical or business experts. Gives you the opportunity to sharpen your debating skills, if you don't agree with the thesis that AI is an illusion.

I had to stop listening (unenroll) because the background music is an annoying distraction.
