In this course, you practice English for everyday communication through two familiar topics: technology and shopping customs. You begin by listening and reading about technology, thinking about how it can help people and how it can hurt people. You study vocabulary related to technology and practice grammar for giving predictions, so you can talk about what may happen in the future. You then explore shopping customs, including customs in the United States and customs from different cultures. You learn vocabulary and useful phrases that can help you when you shop and when you talk with other people about shopping. Throughout the course, you use readings, conversations, reading comprehension checks, Language Bite lessons, practice activities, graded quizzes, and Conversation Café discussions to build confidence and use English with other learners.
