In this course, you will continue building intermediate English skills through sociology and global studies. In the sociology unit, you will explore scientific and ethical debates around research, including animal testing, while practicing vocabulary, listening, and reading. You will learn to use noun clauses to make academic writing more precise and write concluding paragraphs that summarize main ideas and restate thesis statements. In the global studies unit, you will examine cultural narratives and astronomical myths about the Milky Way, including the Tanabata story. You will practice chronological organization, sentence variety, compound sentences, prepositional phrases, and conjunctions. You will also outline and write a narrative essay with characters, conflict, climax, and resolution. Practice, reflection, discussion, assessment, essay writing, and self-evaluation activities help you apply each skill.
