About the Course

This is the second course in the Google Cybersecurity Certificate. These courses will equip you with the skills you need to apply for an entry-level cybersecurity job. You’ll build on your understanding of the topics that were introduced in the first Google Cybersecurity Certificate course. In this course, you will take a deeper dive into concepts introduced in the first course, with an emphasis on how cybersecurity professionals use frameworks and controls to protect business operations. In particular, you'll identify the steps of risk management and explore common threats, risks, and vulnerabilities. Additionally, you'll explore Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) data and use a playbook to respond to identified threats, risks, and vulnerabilities. Finally, you will take an important step towards becoming a cybersecurity professional and practice performing a security audit. Google employees who currently work in cybersecurity will guide you through videos, provide hands-on activities and examples that simulate common cybersecurity tasks, and help you build your skills to prepare for jobs. Learners who complete this certificate will be equipped to apply for entry-level cybersecurity roles. No previous experience is necessary. By the end of this course, you will: - Identify the common threats, risks, and vulnerabilities to business operations. - Understand the threats, risks, and vulnerabilities that entry-level cybersecurity analysts are most focused on. - Comprehend the purpose of security frameworks and controls. - Describe the confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA) triad. - Explain the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) framework. - Explore and practice conducting a security audit. - Use a playbook to respond to threats, risks, and vulnerabilities....

The course content is just the right pace. I feel the review questions could be harder but on the other hand it has given me a good boost of confidence being able to learn so quickly and accurately.

This course it quite interesting and has made me fall in love with cybersecurity. Thank you Ashley for such a great delivery.

I learnt about the 8 domains of CISSP and the domains I got interested in were; Security architecture and Engineering, IAM, Communications and Network Security and then Security operations- security breaches investigation.

Also, I learnt more about SIEM tools and dashboards, Playbooks and most interestingly the future of SIEM tools relating to IoTs, Artificial learning and machine learning.

Looking forward to developing my skills in this field and engaging it in my career.

This course, as in the others in this specialization, presents a very good outline of the subject matter. The quizzes and activities can be completed using the information given within the course. That information is organized well and is well and clearly presented. However, it is important to take the reading assignments seriously. This course is a start. It sets the learner on a path. To get the full value of the course, the learner will need to go beyond the material within the course and follow up on the references cited in the reading assignments.

If I ever needed the training to expose me to threats, vulnerabilities and risks associated with conducting daily business activity in cyberspace and how best to mitigate these, this would be the course I would seek out.

It not only describes the nature of these; threats, vulnerabilities, and risks but also places them in a situational context for the learner to better appreciate. Frameworks, playbooks and tools are also discussed to help learners become aware of efforts to curb risk and better protect assets.

I will tell you I loved this course. I have been instructing Cybersecurity since it was only called Information Assurance. I am a contractor that supports the military, so I have trained or instructed security for 35 years, because before computer security involved facility security, Badge security, Filing cabinet security, safe security, and personnel security levels, investigations, and read-ons and read-offs as personnel with security clearances completed a permenant change of station (PCS)

I was auditing this course having started on the first course and I am really enjoying myself and learning a lot. However, I am unable to pay for the subscription currently and I have consequently applied for a scholarship for this course as I make financial arrangements to be able to pay my subscription to continue learning. Just wondering, having done the Module 1 Test for this course, do I have to re-sit when I finally clear the monthly subscription?

The course structure was great and concise, providing sufficient information for non-technical people, by decoding all the jargon involved. The week 4 material had an excellent demonstration of security incident responses (second part of the week 4 material). But such example and demonstration was in-depth only in week 4 materials. So, as a suggestion, making such conceptual clarity for all the concepts would be helpful and much more practical.

Pretty cool course. if you already have a plus and network plus and work help desk then the course so far is just kind of a basic overview of cybersecurity. if i'm familiar with the material, I play the video back at a faster speed. it has quizzes to work your memory, but it seems like the course is more about the practical aspects of actually working as a cyber analyst as opposed to learning a bunch of definitions which is great.

This course taught me about the eight security domains focused on by Certified Information Systems Security Professionals (CISSP), as well as specific security controls, frameworks, and compliance standards. I additionally learned how to use various security information and event management (SIEM) systems to detect security threats, risks, and vulnerabilities, as well as how to respond to security incidents using a playbook.

This course gives you a deeper insight into the CISSP Security Domains and explains each domain in way that is easily understood. It refreshes you on the NIST Cyber security framework and goes a bit deeper in how it can be applied when mitigating risks. It gives an overview and application of the playbooks, security controls and the tools cybersecurity professionals use as they mitigate risks.

It was a lot honestly to take in, but learning about the playbook was my favorite so far in this course. I understand why we need to prevent incidents from the threat actors. You really have to rely on communication within this course it sounds like. Employees, stakeholders, and the security analyst all have to be on the same page. I might be wording this correctly but that's my take on it.

I have many years of experience in physical security in a healthcare setting, including Emergency Departments. There is a lot of bleed-over, conceptually, from that experience into cybersecurity. Some terminology is different and some concepts are applied in differing stages. This course really brought these things into focus helped me make the translation. I'm excited to continue.

Material was easy to understand and Instructor was brilliant. The only tip that will give to make this course better is based on the Quizzes. When you fail a question on a quiz, it will be nice to get an link to the answer that has highlighted text of the course materials that shows the answer. This can be added to the video review.

Overall the the Satisfaction is 100%

Course, is awesome clear precise easy to understand one topic builds upon another... I also, like how Google introduces staff members who share their stories, experiences and practically cheer you on with words of encouragement. I love that, because right now I only have myself and my bills to motivate me. I am excited to see where this new journey takes me....

In this course I learned several things that I will take into my daily life, besides being able to be reassured with several tips from those who already work in the area. It is interesting to see how Playbooks and the SIEM tool can greatly facilitate SOC operations.

I believe I will want to study more about SIEM and incident response after this course!!!

There was a lot of useful information that I believe will be needed as an entry cybersecurity analyst. The most difficult part of this course was conducting a security audit for the first time. After completing this tasks, I felt like I finally created physical evidence of my understandings and could contribute it to my portfolio in some way.
