Welcome to Week 1 of the course. This week focuses on understanding the architecture and reliability foundations of Google Cloud AlloyDB. You will begin by exploring how to plan database capacity and usage for AlloyDB workloads and understand the concept of HTAP (Hybrid Transactional and Analytical Processing) databases. You will also learn how to evaluate high availability and disaster recovery strategies to ensure database resilience. Additionally, this week covers how applications connect to AlloyDB databases, along with important database connectivity and access management considerations. You will also explore how to evaluate appropriate database solutions available on Google Cloud. Finally, you will learn how to configure database monitoring and troubleshooting mechanisms and design backup and recovery solutions to ensure database reliability and operational stability. By the end of this week, you will understand how to design reliable AlloyDB database architectures in Google Cloud environments.
