In this Specialization, you'll learn how to create effective, inclusive digital learning experiences and turn instructional ideas into practical plans. It begins with the foundations of instructional design, where you'll examine learning theories, design models such as ADDIE, performance gaps, learner needs, tasks, environments, and measurable objectives.
As you progress, you'll explore how digital tools can support active learning, collaboration, feedback, reflection, and personalized learning. You'll also consider whether technology truly improves the learning experience or simply moves traditional teaching online.
You'll then examine frameworks for selecting and evaluating learning technologies, including cognitive load, transactional distance, E3, MVP, and 4C/ID. The Specialization closes with project planning, where you'll work with approaches such as waterfall, Kanban, and Scrum while considering stakeholders, risks, scope, schedules, communication, and costs.

Applied Learning Project
Throughout this Specialization, you'll gain hands-on experience moving from learning needs to practical digital learning solutions. You'll analyze learner, performance, task, and context data; turn findings into clear goals and objectives; and evaluate how different technologies, teaching approaches, and design frameworks support meaningful learning. Through case analyses, assignments, discussions, media-rich activities, and planning exercises, you'll practice making evidence-based decisions for varied audiences and settings. You'll also create and refine professional artifacts such as instructional design analyses, technology rationales, e-portfolio work, and project plans and schedules. Along the way, you'll explore collaborative workflows, planning software, responsible uses of generative AI, and both predictive and Agile planning—building the judgment and practical range needed to guide digital learning initiatives from concept through implementation.
