Kavita Surana

Climate Change Specialist

Bio

Kavita Surana is a Consultant on climate change with the World Bank Group. She integrates multiple aspects of climate change and energy, bringing together science, innovation, public policy, and the private sector for accelerating the transition to a low carbon future. Most recently, Kavita was a Fellow at Harvard University’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, where she analyzed the role of government policies in promoting technology innovations in energy and beyond. She has previously worked on power generation investments and electricity markets at ICF International. Kavita is also an experienced scientist, and developed innovative technologies for solar cells while working at the French Atomic and Alternative Energies Commission (CEA). Kavita holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the Institut Polytechnique de Grenoble (INP-Grenoble), France, an M.S. in Materials for Energy Storage and Conversion from Université Paul Sabatier (UPS), Toulouse, France as an Erasmus Mundus scholar, and a B.Sc. in Physics from St. Stephen's College, Delhi University, India.
