Kirsten Langeveld is a senior lecturer at LUMC, Department Public Health and Primary Care (PHEG). She is teaching/developing courses in, amongst others, social determinants of health, global health, qualitative research methods, medical anthropology, social medicine and diversity. She developed from working as cultural anthropologist focusing on gender to working as medical anthropologist in the field of public health. Her PhD thesis (2003) was on gender relations and mask rituals in Senegal. An important theme in her PhD thesis was related to medical anthropology. From 2011-2014 she was affiliated as a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Amsterdam, Academic Medical Center (AMC), Department social medicine. Her research focus was on Public Health and social medicine and especially the social determinants of health.
