Samuel Parker

Bio

Samuel Parker is a founding faculty member of the University of Washington's Tacoma campus where he teaches courses straddling the disciplines of Asian and Pacific art history and cultural anthropology in the Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences program. He has conducted fieldwork in India and Bali on the contemporary practices of Hindu temple construction and use, both for locals and visitors, traditional religious functions as well as for cultural tourism. In addition to the writing of innovative exhibition catalogs, his research has also been published in a number of top journals, including Artibus Asiae, Res, Ars Orientalis, South Asian Studies, and others.
