Bio

Dr Viral Thakerar studied medicine at Brasenose College, Oxford and University College London. He completed his foundation training in the West Midlands, where he did a placement in medical education. He discovered a passion for communicating complex topics as simply as possible, and was deputy editor and contributing author for the official Survive Sepsis training manual. He completed his GP training at the Hillingdon VTS, and later worked as Clinical Teaching Fellow at Hillingdon Hospital. He joined Imperial in 2018 as the course lead for the First Clinical Attachment and Society and Health, and is now co-lead for the Patients, Communities and Health module. He has an interest in serious games and gamification for medical education. He is also interested in digital health and the role of AI in primary care.
