Gareth has spent most of his career in senior roles in the retail and technology industries. Most recently he was the Retail Industry Executive at Telstra responsible for Telstra’s strategy for the retail sector. Whilst at Telstra Gareth published six research papers into the digital disruption of the retail industry. These included “The Data Driven Supply Chain” which investigates the potential for IOT and AI to transform retail supply chains. He also conceived and led the development of the annual Retail Innovation Summit in partnership with Intel, Microsoft, Adobe, NORA and Grant Thornton. Prior to joining Telstra Gareth enjoyed a career as a retail executive with Paul’s Warehouse, Video Ezy and Dick Smith Electronics, was an advisor to companies like Westfield shopping centres and “3” mobile and taught retail at universities in Australia and China. He is now co-founder and Asia Pacific lead for ThinkUncommon which advises retailers and their suppliers on the process of retail innovation. Gareth holds two Masters degrees and is currently a PhD candidate at University of Sydney where he is researching consumer collaboration in last mile delivery.
