There are 4 modules in this course

In this module, you will build a working foundation in modern project management as defined by the PMBOK® Guide Eighth Edition, the standard behind the PMP® exam update. You will explore updated definitions of project and project management, the PMP® framework, the Project Management Mindset, and the project life cycle. A dedicated lesson then unpacks what's genuinely new in this edition: the six guiding principles, AI adoption and human accountability, and the reintroduced Focus Areas alongside the seven Performance Domains. The module closes with the people side of project leadership, conflict resolution, team leadership, and integrated stakeholder engagement, including a role-play activity set in a healthcare project context. By the end of this module, you will be able to describe the PMBOK® 8 framework, including what's changed from prior editions, and apply core people-leadership behaviors to healthcare project scenarios.

In this module, you will build the technical foundation of project architecture and delivery. You will examine how governance frameworks provide strategic alignment and oversight of value, and how scope is elicited, structured, and protected using tools such as the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS). You will explore how schedules and resources are planned and monitored, and how financial planning, budgeting, and Earned Value Management (EVM) are used to justify and track project value. The module closes by connecting financial oversight to the PMBOK® 8 Embed Quality principle through the Manage Quality Assurance process. Through applied activities set in healthcare project contexts, you will practice building and interpreting the core artifacts of project architecture. By the end of this module, you will be able to apply scope, schedule, and finance processes to drive value-based delivery.

In this module, you will explore how project managers lead through uncertainty and drive projects to a well-governed close. You will examine how communications and stakeholder engagement processes maintain transparency, and how risk is identified, analyzed, and responded to across the project life cycle. You will study how sourcing and procurement decisions are made, how work is directed and knowledge captured during execution, and how performance is monitored and formally closed. The module closes by connecting these governance practices to responsible, ethical leadership — including AI governance and sustainability (ESG) trade-offs in healthcare facility projects. By the end of this module, you will be able to apply risk, stakeholder, and governance practices to lead healthcare projects responsibly from execution through closure.

The module includes a course glossary to reinforce key terminology and concepts. You will also attempt a final exam to assess your overall mastery of the concepts learned in this course. The course concludes with a wrap-up that summarizes key takeaways and prepares you for Course 2 of the specialization.
