Cancer affects more than cells and systems. It touches individuals, families, and communities from the moment of diagnosis. In this three-course specialization from Rice University, you'll explore cancer biology, risk factors, screening, treatment, and survivorship; examine how stress affects the body; and learn about evidence-informed approaches to healthy living, including social support, stress management, sleep, physical activity, diet, and environmental health. Through research presented by Dr. Daniel C. Hughes and experiences shared by cancer survivors and caregivers, you'll connect scientific concepts with the human experience of cancer and develop a broader understanding of health, well-being, and survivorship.
Applied Learning Project
Through interactive activities, guided reflections, and workbook exercises, learners will apply concepts from cancer biology, stress research, and Anti-Cancer Living to everyday situations and real-world scenarios. They will examine how scientific evidence, personal circumstances, and social and environmental factors shape health and well-being.
