This specialization is for mid-career professionals in business, compliance, HR, product, and other non-legal roles who need to understand how the law shapes ethical conduct at work. Across three courses from the University of Illinois College of Law, you will study how to build and measure an effective compliance program using the DOJ's Evaluation of Corporate Compliance Programs, manage conflicts of interest and directors' fiduciary duties, recognize bribery risk under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and communicate legal risk and design compliance training that changes behavior. These skills matter because regulators now judge whether a program works in practice, not only whether it exists.
Projet d'apprentissage appliqué
Learners apply course frameworks to realistic business decisions rather than a single capstone deliverable: they work through a board-level conflict of interest case, deciding who is conflicted and who should step out of the vote, and they design a short scenario-based compliance training segment for a specific role and risk level. Each exercise asks learners to make and defend a decision using concepts such as fiduciary duty, the fairness test, and risk-based training.
