This course has been transformative for my career in healthcare IT! The Operations Management frameworks - particularly SCOR model, BTS vs MTO strategies, and Lean Six Sigma methodologies - have given me powerful tools to optimize our medication database systems at Vidal Vademécum. The CTQ (Critical to Quality) concept helped me identify what truly matters: data accuracy for patient safety, system availability 24/7, and rapid search response times. The TIMWOODS framework opened my eyes to hidden wastes in our processes - from database query delays to redundant approval steps that slow down critical drug information updates. Most valuable was learning DMAIC methodology. I can now approach data quality issues systematically: defining the problem (2-3% error rate), measuring baseline performance, analyzing root causes, implementing targeted improvements, and establishing controls to sustain gains. As someone bridging healthcare technology and business operations, this course positioned me perfectly for future leadership roles - whether as a Healthcare IT Director, Hospital CTO, or Operations Manager. The supply chain concepts apply directly to pharmaceutical information flow, and the quality management principles are essential for patient safety. The course structure was excellent - practical examples, clear explanations, and peer reviews that challenged me to apply concepts to real-world scenarios. This MBE specialization from Emory is exactly what I needed to advance from technical roles into strategic business leadership in healthcare technology. Highly recommended for anyone in healthcare IT or pharma operations!
