Secure application development requires effective authentication, authorization, and access control strategies that can adapt to modern architectures. This Specialization provides a structured learning path through Spring Security, helping learners build, manage, and integrate security solutions for Java applications using Spring Security 6.
The journey begins with core security concepts and authentication mechanisms, covering custom authentication, JDBC-based authentication, Spring Data integration, and LDAP directory services. Learners then progress to advanced authentication and authorization techniques, including OAuth 2, SAML 2, client certificate authentication, fine-grained access control, access control lists, and custom authorization strategies.
In the final course, learners explore session management, migration to Spring Security 6, microservice security using OAuth 2 and JSON Web Tokens, Single Sign-On implementation, and GraalVM native image integration. By completing the Specialization, participants develop the ability to architect loosely coupled security solutions, implement modern authentication and authorization mechanisms, and integrate Spring Security across enterprise, microservice, and cloud-based environments.
This Specialization is based on the book, Spring Security, by Badr Nasslahsen.
Applied Learning Project
Applied exercises and case analyses included within the courses. These activities provide opportunities to reinforce key Spring Security concepts, including authentication, authorization, access control, session management, and security integration techniques, while supporting practical skill development.
