This is where cloud operations becomes hands-on. In this course, you’ll provision and operate infrastructure on IBM Cloud, following a mid-market retailer as it moves its online storefront off aging hardware. You’ll deploy, size, and manage virtual machines for a real workload, then configure virtual networks and subnets, control traffic with security groups, and attach cloud storage, connecting compute, network, and storage into one secure, properly segmented environment. Networking gets real weight here, because it is the skill that keeps cloud systems reachable, isolated, and safe. Next, you’ll meet the shift reshaping operations work: containers. You’ll learn how containers differ from virtual machines and where each one fits, then run a basic container and walk it through its lifecycle. The course closes with a beginner’s first look at Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes, where you’ll explore what a managed container platform provides and deploy a sample application. OpenShift stays at introductory depth by design, giving you genuine exposure and a bridge toward platform engineering without cluster administration. Every module pairs short lessons with labs in free-trial IBM Cloud environments.
