Michigan MPH Coursera Student Experience Learn more about the Online MPH student experience here.

Coursera partners with leading universities to deliver the world’s best online degree programs.

The online Master of Public Health in Population and Health Sciences degree is fully developed and taught by the University of Michigan, and comes from the same faculty that teach on campus. The University of Michigan leverages Coursera’s online education platform to deliver the program curriculum, allowing MPH students to benefit from Coursera features such as interactive video transcription, in-course note taking, and seamless learning across multiple devices.

Degrees on Coursera are powered by technology that allows you to learn on your schedule and on the device of your choice. Students attend live virtual classroom sessions with professors and peers (mostly scheduled on weekday evenings), work together on group projects, and speak with instructors during online office hours. Courses are also made up of modules that can be completed during commutes or other short periods of spare time. Courses include supplementary readings, assignments, and discussion forums that help you spark connections with your peers.

An applied practice experience is required of all Master of Public Health students. Population and Health Sciences students will fulfill the applied practice experience requirement in the PUBHLTH 680 and 681 practicum courses offered in the second year. Students will work collaboratively with non-academic partners to develop products of use to the practice community by applying competencies and skills acquired through coursework.

Lectures are organized into weekly modules, which are presented through videos and transcripts. Pace yourself through online lectures before meeting with your professor and classmates in weekly live sessions to dive deeper into the material.

Access courses from anywhere — just download them to your mobile device and study offline at your convenience.

Interact with fellow students through course forums. Leverage the experiences and knowledge of your peers by posing questions to the group and engaging in rich discussions.
